DORV

Heinz Frey DORV ZentrumAshoka Fellow Heinz Frey created DORV centers which become a one-stop-shop for citizens. These centers are local convenience stores with postal, social and medical services to inspire local communities to stay in these areas and grow rather than desert them.

Social Impact: DORV-centers not only offer domestic goods and services but also a communal meeting point. At the time of FASE’s initial transaction support, DORV had 10,000 citizens benefiting from 12 centres. For the future, 50 DORV centers were to be built.

Investment:  The setup costs for the DORV center GmbH had to be financed until revenues from consultancy, licensing fees and training could cover all costs. Supported by FASE, one foundation and a business angel were identified and teamed up to provide financial support to the social enterprise in 2014.
