What this page is about
This is the BRIEFING for how to prepare your short self-recording.
- The idea is that you film/record yourself and answer a few questions (or speak about a specific topic) in your own words.
- We will provide questions or bullet points but you can choose freely what you want to say
- The recording should be in English language
Time and deadline
- The recording will be used to prepare a short reel which will be shared on FASE’s LinkedIn account, scheduled for mid-November to end-November 2024. By providing this recording, you agree to it being made publicly available on LinkedIn. You can see a preview before release, if you wish so.
- The entire recording shouldn’t take you more than 20 minutes of your valuable time, including preparation.
- The length of your recording should be between 1 to max. 1 1/2 minutes
- If possible, please submit your short recording until latest November 7, 2024
Settings
- The recording should be done on Zoom (or similar video call software at the same quality, e.g. MS Teams). Please don’t use your mobile phone. An easy way on Zoom is to use your personal meeting room.
- The result is ideally an MP4 file (which is typically pre-set on Zoom, but please check).
- Just sit in front of your laptop as if you’d be participating in a video call.
- Please choose a well-lit setting and a neutral background for the best possible recording quality (no virtual backgrounds, as they may cut out a part of you once you move). Sit close to the screen so you take up most of the screen.
- Make sure that you’re undisturbed and your WIFI connection is good. Check that there are no background noises that will harm the recording.
- Be authentic and conversational!
- Look directly at the screen as if you had a conversation with someone over Zoom or other video call. Have a friendly, positive expression while you talk.
- If your setting is fine, make a test run if you need to. Then record yourself with the in-built Zoom video recording function. You can do multiple versions if you’re unsure what will work best.
An example
This is how you position yourself best in front of the camera:
If you want to see how such a LinkedIn reel with a Zoom-recorded selfie can look like once it’s ready, here is one from our friends at Roots of Impact (although in another context, but just to get an idea): Watch the LinkedIn Reel from Roots of Impact
