Growth capital for Strong by Form

Patented timber technology as climate-friendly alternative to concrete

Societal challenge and market

The construction industry faces major challenges, including accounting for around one third of global CO₂ emissions, suffering from labor shortages and stagnating productivity. Despite stricter environmental regulations, reinforced and heavy concrete continues to dominate despite being carbon-intensive, heavy, and inefficient to install.
As governments tighten climate regulation and the demand for faster, more sustainable construction grows, the industry urgently needs scalable, cost-effective alternatives. The global market for sustainable construction materials is expected to exceed €800bn by 2034, creating a strong opportunity for disruptive material innovations.

Solution

Strong by Form is a New Materials start-up that has developed Woodflow™, a patented timber-based technology inspired by natural fiber alignment and structural optimization. Woodflow™ enables the production of high-performance, prefabricated components that can structurally replace reinforced concrete while being up to 92% lighter, significantly lower in carbon emissions, and cost-competitive.
The technology is applied across three product lines:
  • Woodflow CORE, structural floor and roof slabs for office and commercial buildings;
  • Woodflow SKIN, design-driven solutions for interior construction;
  • and Woodflow MOTION, lightweight structural components for the mobility sector.
Manufactured off-site and dry-installed on-site, Woodflow™ reduces construction time, labor intensity, and material usage — enabling faster, cleaner, and more efficient building at scale.
